USA Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026. Written with reference to the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA and CPPA regulations in effect in 2026 (including opt-out of sale/sharing and Global Privacy Control expectations).
This USA Cookie Policy explains how allaboutfrench.net uses cookies and similar technologies for visitors in the United States, with emphasis on California rights.
1. Overview
We use essential preference storage and, when allowed, advertising technologies such as Google AdSense. Cookies and pixels can collect identifiers that qualify as personal information under California law when they reasonably link to a household or device.
2. Notice at collection (cookies)
Categories: identifiers (cookie IDs, IP address), internet activity (pages viewed, interactions with ads), and inferences used by ad systems for interest segments when personalized ads are on. Purposes: site operation, security, advertising, and measuring ads. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and, depending on interpretation of ad tech, “sell” personal information under CCPA definitions even when no money changes hands.
3. Your California opt-out rights
California residents may opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. On this Site you can: click Reject on the cookie banner; use Cookie settings in the footer; email hello@allaboutfrench.net with subject “Do Not Sell or Share”; or enable a browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) / opt-out preference signal. We treat a detected GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of sale/sharing for advertising cookies for that browser. Where required by 2026 CPPA rules, our interface aims to reflect that an opt-out preference has been honored (for example by storing Reject and suppressing ad scripts).
4. How opt-outs are processed
Opt-outs via the banner apply promptly in your browser by blocking non-essential ad scripts. We do not require an account. We will not ask you to opt back in for at least 12 months after an opt-out, except where you initiate a new Accept choice yourself.
5. Sensitive personal information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through forms for advertising. Ads systems may process coarse location derived from IP. If that changes, we will update notices and any “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” controls as required.
6. Other U.S. state laws
Other states (for example Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and others) provide opt-out rights for targeted advertising. Our Reject control and GPC recognition are intended to help honor those opt-outs for browser-based advertising technologies described here.
7. Google AdSense
AdSense and partners set cookies when advertising is allowed. Manage Google ad personalization at Ads Settings. Our Privacy Policy discloses AdSense, cookie-based advertising, third-party vendors, and preference management in more detail.
8. Essential vs optional
Essential: consent preference key in localStorage. Optional: advertising cookies and related scripts. Analytics packages are not loaded by default as of the date above.
9. Contact and non-discrimination
Privacy requests: hello@allaboutfrench.net. We will not discriminate against California consumers for exercising CCPA rights.
See also Privacy Policy and EU Cookie Policy.
10. Categories disclosed publicly
In the last 12 months, depending on whether advertising was enabled in your browser, categories that may have been disclosed to advertising partners include identifiers and internet/electronic activity. We do not knowingly sell personal information of consumers under 16.
11. Verifiable requests
For deletion or know requests that go beyond browser-level cookie controls, email us with enough detail to verify your request. Cookie identifiers alone may be insufficient to locate server-side records because this static edition stores preference data locally. We will explain what we can and cannot fulfill.
12. Children
The Site is aimed at a general audience interested in French language and culture, not children under 13.
13. Changes
We will revise this USA Cookie Policy when our advertising stack or legal obligations change, including updates to CPPA regulations.
